Trucking company Lynn Transportation of Edgerton will be moving to the Town of Beloit within the coming months.

Owner Mark Neal said he was looking for a new location in Rock County after being forced to move from the property he rented in Edgerton.

“I feel it’s really important for me to own something. It’s the gateway,” he said of the Beloit area.

Neal lives eight miles west of the city and said many of his 19 employees live in the area. Upon moving, he said he would like to hire eight additional people including three truck drivers.

The new property is located at the corner of Townline Road and Waters Road. It was sold for $50,000.

“The Town of Beloit has been great to work with,” Neal said. “With every request that I’ve had, the response has been immediate.”

The deal was brokered through Joel Patch of Commercial Property Group, who said after looking at various locations, he found the perfect one in the town.

“It was the right location, the town’s been great to work with,” Patch said.

Neal started the company in 2008, when it was located in Stoughton, Wis. before moving to Edgerton in 2011.

The deal is expected to be finalized next week and a site plan will be presented to the Town of Beloit’s Planning Commission in June.

This move marks a slow push from new businesses and expansions coming to the town, mostly notably the new $775 Alliant Energy power plant and The Beloit Club.

“I think the business climate is positive,” said Town Administrator Brian Wilson.
